Description

The São Martinho Group is one of the largest groups in Brazil’s sugar and ethanol sector, with three mills in operation: São Martinho, located in Pradópolis, a city in the Ribeirão Preto region of São Paulo state; Iracema, located in Iracemápolis, a city in the Limeira region of São Paulo state; and Boa Vista, located in Quirinópolis, a city 300 km away from Goiânia, in Goiás state. In addition to the three mills, the Group also has a unit (Omtek) that produces ribonucleic acid, which is also located in Iracemápolis.

The São Martinho and Iracema mills produce both sugar and ethanol, while the Boa Vista mill exclusively produces ethanol. The three mills generate electric power from the burning of sugarcane bagasse, assuring electricity self-sufficiency and the sale of surplus power. Omtek produces yeast byproducts using advanced biotechnological processes, which are sold in both the food and animal feed markets.

The Group processed 11.4 million metric tons of sugarcane in the 2011/2012 harvest year, which will be used to produce approximately 774,000 metric tons of sugar and 447,800 m³ of ethanol. The average harvest mechanization index of the Group is 85.7%, with this figure representing a reference in the industry. The mechanization index reaches 100% at the Boa Vista Mill.

Following a comprehensive process to professionalize the Company‘s management, in February 2007, the São Martinho Group stock began trading on the Novo Mercado Special Corporate Governance Segment of the São Paulo Stock Exchange (BM&FBovespa) under the ticker SMTO3.
